Common questions

Adding your records

Your VA and military medical records. A VA Blue Button report, your TRICARE records, your claims file (C-file) if you have it, your DD-214, and any VA decision letters. Add what you have. You can add more later.

PDF, Word, text, JPG or PNG files, up to 500 MB per file. If one scanned file is bigger than that, split it into parts and add each part.

Check your connection and try again. Make sure the file opens on your own device first. Big files take a moment. You can leave the page and come back. If it still fails, send us a note below.

It depends on how many pages you add. You do not need to wait on the page. Close it and come back. You can turn the ready email on or off under Settings.

Paying

$79 one-time fee to use the tool. No monthly fee. Nothing taken from your VA benefits. You pay on the pricing page, through Stripe.

Yes. You pay once. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

Check the card number and the expiry date, then try again. If your bank blocked it, call the number on your card. Still stuck? Send us a note below with the email you used to pay. Never send your card number.

This can happen when you paid with one email and signed in with another. Send us a note with both email addresses and we will sort it out.

What AVA found and drafted

A list of what your records show, with the page each fact came from. A note of what is not found yet for each condition. A draft statement for each condition you chose. Your VA forms, pre-filled for you to check. A buddy letter template for a witness. You review, sign and file it yourself.

You can add a condition AVA missed and leave out one that is wrong. You know your own history best. Every draft is yours to change before you sign it.

No. Only VA does, after you file.

You do. AVA never sends anything to VA. You download your packet, sign it, and file it yourself on VA.gov or with a free Veterans Service Organization (VSO).

Yes. Ask AVA answers about your own records and shows the page it used when it has one.

Your records and privacy

Your files are encrypted on the way to us and while they are stored. We do not sell them. We do not use them to train AI models. AVA is designed to align with HIPAA safeguards. That is a design goal, not a certification.

They stay in your account until you delete them. Delete one file from your records. Delete everything from Settings. Your sign-in and paid access stay, so you can come back.

When you ask support for help, they can see what happened to your files (dates, counts, whether a step finished). They do not read your pages to answer a support question unless you ask. To fix a fault in how a page was read, the owner may look at how that page was read. The cloud and AI services that run AVA handle your records under our agreements with them. The privacy policy names them. We never sell your data.

No. AVA is an educational tool built by a veteran. It helps you prepare your own VA claim from your own records. It is not a law firm, a VSO or a claims agent. You can file with a free VSO or on your own. AVA helps with both.
